Ruth Zetzsche - Biography

Ruth Zetzsche was born into a musical family. A passion for the theatre became very apparent during her school years when she first performed on stage in Gera, Germany.
In 1989 she performed her first solo part in the Baroque Opera "Dido & Aeneas". It was when she finished high school that she began to take professional singing lessons in Hamburg under the tuition of Claudia Zetsche. Since 2000 she has been a student of Professor Karl Markus of the Music Academy in Frankfurt/Main.
Ruth Zetzsche has an impressive, eclectic performance repertoire including solo cantatas from Vivaldi, Händels “Messiah” or Bachs "Christmas Oratorio". In 2006 she performed the alto part in Mozarts “Krönungsmesse" and "Vesperae" in Paris.
In contrast to her classical portfolio she also made a successful transition into the work of traditional composers. This is best illustrated by her recent success in Mexico City where she performed in the production "Friedensmesse für Chiapas" by Ignacio Olivarec. Ruth Zetzsche also soloed at the premier of works by H. Pawlitzki.
As a result of extensive touring with her song and aria evenings throughout Germany, Ruth Zetzsche is now recognised and acknowledged for her creativity and unique expression, she has her own unmistakable style.
Gypsy songs, songs of the romantic epoch from Russian composers combine with Schuberts "Winterreise" combined with a bespoke chanson programme all unite to create a listening pleasure of a very special kind.
Whether performing church music or solo recitals, with her warm and expressive voice one cannot fail to be fascinated by her unique musical configuration.
